[ALBUM REVIEW] Syre - Jaden Smith

Imagine experiencing a block buster movie like August Rush, Fight Club, or Pulp Fiction with crazy stunts, romance, drama, joy, pain, excitement...only through the sounds it gives you. That's the closest way to describe this wonder kid's album, Syre.

Now I can imagine that you thinking that the boy did music just because his dad did it (he told RapGenius otherwise over here), and to be honest, a lot of us were on the same taxi headed to 'hatersville', but this new body of work, by the young indigo child has made a statement that solidifies his place among the futuristic leaders in music circles. With influences from indie themes, rock, new age R&B and trap, all under a conscious flow, you can't help but pick a song that you feel was personally made for your tastebuds (here at CVAC we still trying to figure out whether B or L is a better song).

While he sends you on a trip through his feelings and thoughts as a young artist, he also pulls you out of all of that and reminds you he's here to attack the space and lace his legacy on Icon (which I'd personally like to place dibs on to use as my entrance song, should the WWE come calling). He pinpoints how he doesn't need to prove himself anymore and has accepted his stardom, ferociously.

With features from Raury, ASAP Rocky, Lido, Pia Mia and sister Willow, you can't help but realise the dexterity of his artistry, as it flows with soul and consciousness. Admitted, his verses could've been lyrically better (metaphors and punchlines were slightly slacking...not as tenacious as the rappers we're used to), but his emotions and use of word play shine through so hard, the pictures painted by the 19 year old can't help but be noticed.

OVERALL: This is the most artistic album we've come across lately in every sense of the word. If you don't appreciate it now, you will understand what you missing out on in future. This is what the future sounds like. Think Differently? Let Us Know In The Comment Section Below.
