[ALBUM REVIEW] Yellow - Shane Eagle

Remember that good old school music? The Fugees? Lauryn Hill? Early 2000's Nas? If you know this era, then you can relate to the artistry that is Shane Eagle on #Yellow.

Before this album was given a listen, my view on Eagle was limited to the character that was portrayed on the first season of Vuzu Hustle. Pretty boy with superficial tendencies right? Wrong! When I listened to this project...Shit. From track one, I could swear I had Eagle in the same room as myself. Honest, candid, personal stories are told. Winter is an example where he let's us into his deep rooted thoughts, fears and ambitions. Wrapped in elegant, effortlessly profound verses, his talent is a gift for the present.

Dope balance between commercial and conscious elements, carving Eagle's versatility. Stand out songs being On My Own and Let It Flow. Look, the guy can set a stage alight upon command. Period. The beats have conscious loops but then the instruments used are contemporary. Slick right? His command of the words and flow when rapping is unmatched right now locally so we could argue that the album could be a #Classick. See it as being something along the lines of Joey Badass's 1999 with a J.Cole hint. Check it out and tell us what you think in the comment below.
